John Hineman, born abt 1828 PA – died 29 Jul 1857 in Monroe Co., WI

John Hineman’s father was Samuel Hineman, mother Unknown.

Harriet Carey/Cary, born 28 Oct 1825 in Hanover, Luzerne Co., PA – died 01 Aug 1907 in Tomah, Monroe Co., WI.

Harriet’s father was Benjamin Cary, born about 1803, Hanover, Luzerne Co., PA – died abt 1871 in Wisconsin, probably in Tomah, Monroe County, as he was living there in 1870.

Her mother was Jane Smiley, born abt 1803 PA – died abt 1872, Monroe Co., WI.

John and Harriet were married 08 Apr 1847 in Fulton, Rock Co., Wisconsin

Miles Leroy Hineman married Elizabeth Ann “Lizzie” Rowan 05 Nov 1879 in Tomah, Monroe Co., Wisconsin.

Lizzie, was born Dec 1860, in Monroe Co., WI, was the daughter of Thomas Rowan and Sarah McMullen, both born in Ireland.

Gardie Hineman married Olive Bessie Martin 05 Nov 1910 in Minot, Ward Co., ND. They had one son, Nathan Hineman, born 15 Aug 1912 in Monroe Co., WI. Bessie died in 1914 from TB, leaving Nathan and another young son, Ladoit “Dick”  Houston, from a previous marriage.

Gardie next married Frances Adams (Adamski,) 28 Dec 1916 in Minot, Ward Co., ND. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska sometime before 1920.

Ralph W. Hineman married Emma B Pingel on 11 May 1904, in Wilton, Monroe, Wisconsin. They had 8 children: Leslie, Gerald, Virgil, Laura, Avery, Gertrude and Wesley. They also moved to Omaha, Nebraska, sometime in the 1920’s.

Pearl Hineman married Ralph W. Bowen on 05 Nov 1905 in Monroe Co., WI. They had no children. Gardie’s son, Nathan, evidently lived with them for an unknown period of time around 1920, as he appears on the census with them, and I found a mention of  him in an Eau Claire Co., WI newspaper, which is where Pearl and Ralph were living at the time. I think Pearl and Ralph may have lived in the Chicago, IL area around 1910,  but then returned to the Augusta area.

Ruby L. Hineman married William Ernst Gerke on 28 Nov 1909 in Wisconsin. They had 7 children: Harold, Raymond, Miles, Pearl, Allen, Howard and Maxine. They stayed in Wisconsin.

Amy Louise Hineman married Earl Benjaman Scott about 1914, probably in WI. Amy and Earl had 8 children: Elizabeth, June, Allen, Robert, Katherine, Rose, Richard and John. They lived in the Augusta, Eau Claire Co., WI area.

Glen Wellyn Hineman married Florence Caroline Mackey about 1924.  They had 2 sons, Earl Raymond, born in Wisconsin, and James Miles, born in Minnesota. It appears they were divorced, as Glen was living in North Dakota in 1930, and later, ended up in Blaine, Montana, while Florence was still in Minnesota, living with her parents in 1930.

Thompson A. Hineman was the son (and youngest child) of Alexander Hineman and Amanda Jane Ewing.

Because he was born in 1881, Thompson does not appear on any census record with his parents, however they are listed on his death record.

Something I noticed on the 1880 census: There was a Thompson family living near the Alexander Hineman family. Not sure if there is ANY connection at this point, but something I will try to research further.

Okay, on to what I have found so far: Thompson seems to have been a bit of a delinquent. According to the 1900 census, he was an inmate in a reformatory.

East Liverpool, O., Jun 20.–Thompson Hineman of this city confined in the Chester (W. Va.) jail on suspicion of robbing two men on the bridge between East Liverpool and Newell, W. Va., escaped and is now at large. He left in his cell a dime novel with a leaf turned down to a chapter headed “A Thrilling Escape” which he seems to have studied to advantage.

Dessie D. Straight was first married to Charles Jasper Hawkins, on 04 Mar 1909. They had two children; a son, Merle, born about 1909 PA, and Julita M., born abt 1911 WV. Evidently, they divorced sometime before 1917.

Thompson Hineman and Dessie (Straight)  Hawkins were married on 24 Dec 1917 in Fairmont, Marion Co., WV.

This marriage probably didn’t last very long as Dessie went back to using the Hawkins surname.

I can’t find Thompson anywhere, under any name variation in 1930, but he should have been in East Liverpool, Columbiana Co., OH, I would think. He died there 28 Jul 1941.

I am posting this information regarding Alexander Hindman/Hineman to show his connection to John and Mary (McConnell) Hineman, who were his parents.

Now, on to Edward McConnell Hineman (aka Eddo, Eddy, Mac, Mack) and his twin sister, Edna Myrtle.

Once again, I have cropped the image in pieces to make it easy to see the important information.

West Virginia Birth Record 1871 - Hancock Co.

This is indexed as Eldis McC  Hindman, but if you compare the last letter of his first name to other “s” on the same document, you can tell it is not an “s”. I think it is an “e” for Eddie, even though it does look different from the “e” at the end of Myrtle. In addition, Nancy too a look at it too, and noticed the “M” in McC looks like a “W” until you compare it to other ones on the page, plus it does look like the “M” in Myrtle.

Now, for the parents:

I also found the following marriage information (which I posted previously) for Alexander and Amanda:

Hancock Co., WV GENWEB has name listed as Alexancer HINDERMAN to Amanda Jane EWING, 14 Aug 1856. Source listed as Marcie McClelland.

I have checked the WV vitals, but I can’t seem to pull up marriage records for anyone in 1856, so they must not have them on there yet.
