Daughter of Edward Mack Hineman and Laura Unknown (Tegard, see new info below) who may have died in childbirth or shortly after?

NOW, it seems they are not longer married in 1930. In fact, I can’t find a Laura or a Maud with a daugther Evelyn at all. However, I did find a Margaret married to an Edwin RANKIN, with two STONER daughters, one an Evelyn of the correct age, living in Youngstown, Mahoning, OH:

Edwin Rankin appears to have been living with his parents in Summit Co., Ohio, in 1920. The Edwin Rankin living in Summit Co., Ohio was Claude Edwin Rankin, who died in 1935, so he is not the same Edwin Rankin.

SO….IS this Laura Maud Hineman? I don’t know.  Actually, now I do think it is the same person. I just found a tree (starr/bucey family tree) on ancestry that lists her name as Margaret Maud HINDMAN. This tree does not list any children for Maud and Edwin Rankin.

Even better, it has Laura Maud Hineman’s mother’s family listed! ANCESTRY.COM LINK

If this is the correct family, Laura’s mother was born in Delaware Co., Iowa, not in Missouri, as listed on one of the census records (1900). Her year of birth is also off, but that seems to be kind of usual for these Hinemans, and being they were living next to Mack’s father, Alexander, maybe he or his wife gave the info to the census taker.

This Tegard family did end up in East Liverpool, I think one sister was in Newell, WV.

One thing, probably not connected, but I haven’t had time to check yet: One of Laura’s (Laura Maud’s mom) sisters married a SWAN. I found a SWAN connection that is related to the DUGAN line (one of Edward Mack Hineman’s sister married a Dugan) and will post the new info after I gather it all together.

Anna Caroline’s mother was Rosetta/Rosina, depending on the record. Frances’ middle name appears to be Rosetta, based on the West Virginia marriage record:

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Frances and Roy were married very long. I still need to do some more searching for her and the two STONER sisters.

Hypothesis: I have been researching this John Hineman for months, because I just KNOW he is related to our Hineman’s.

This is something I noticed today, searching census records: David and Letitia Hineman had a grandson living with them in 1870 and 1880. 1870 census lists him as John INMAN, age 1. 1880 census lists him as Elmer HINEMAN, age 11.

One descendant of the William J. Hineman (son of David and Letitia)  line stated in an email that William had a first wife that died during or after childbirth, but she had no other information. Did the child live? Is John Elmer the child? That is what I want to figure out.

It doesn’t appear that John Elmer Hineman ever had any children.  His occupation was in the dentistry field (based on census info and death record.)

Here is the weird thing: Berenice’s death record says she is married, informant is John Hineman, husband in John Hineman. BUT, John E. Hineman died in 1936, and she died in 1940. Did John have a son named John? She is not listed as a widow. Were there two John Hineman’s in Youngtown who were in the dental field? That just seems unlikely unless one was a son. However, as the address for all three is the same, John had to have been married to both of them.

Another discrepancy in connecting this John is John Elmer Hineman’s birthdate is off two years, but since he married Berenice late in life, and she was the informant on his death record, maybe she was just off a couple of years.

The biggest issue would be that this John E Hineman’s death record it lists his father as John Hineman, not William. BUT, maybe William J. Hineman’s middle name was John, or maybe Bernice was mistaken about his name, especially with the age being off, if in fact it is the correct person at all.
