Notes for research:
QUESTION: How did DAR etc. connect the John HINMAN from the war with OUR John HINEMAN? There are lots of HINMANs in VT during the early years, but they seem to be, for the most part, consistently HINMAN, not HINEMAN.

Thompson A. Hineman was the son (and youngest child) of Alexander Hineman and Amanda Jane Ewing.
Because he was born in 1881, Thompson does not appear on any census record with his parents, however they are listed on his death record.
Something I noticed on the 1880 census: There was a Thompson family living near the Alexander [...]

Aaron mentioned a possible census record for Jacob Hineman, (wife, Mary Bickerstaff) born about 1809, son of John Hineman Sr. and Mary Unknown. I am still researching this, trying to verify I have the right people.
NOTE: [...]

This Hineman could be related, being he was apparently working in East Liverpool, OH, where some of  “my” Hineman’s also lived. A quick census search did not turn up any obvious candidates, so will need to continue to look.
(By United Press)
EAST LIVERPOOL, O., July 23.– Residents of the city, one of the largest in Ohio [...]
