Notes for research:
QUESTION: How did DAR etc. connect the John HINMAN from the war with OUR John HINEMAN? There are lots of HINMANs in VT during the early years, but they seem to be, for the most part, consistently HINMAN, not HINEMAN.

Thompson A. Hineman was the son (and youngest child) of Alexander Hineman and Amanda Jane Ewing.
Because he was born in 1881, Thompson does not appear on any census record with his parents, however they are listed on his death record.
Something I noticed on the 1880 census: There was a Thompson family living near the Alexander [...]

Aaron mentioned a possible census record for Jacob Hineman, (wife, Mary Bickerstaff) born about 1809, son of John Hineman Sr. and Mary Unknown. I had done some research on him and his family awhile back, but since he mentioned him, I thought I would take another look. I am posting what I have found so [...]

Granddaughter of Alexander Hineman/Hindman and Amanda Jane Ewing.
Daughter of Edward Mack Hineman and Laura Unknown (Tegard, see new info below) who may have died in childbirth or shortly after?
Here is her 1915 marriage record:
*This one uses the HINEMAN spelling. ** Also note it says she is 18 years-old! She was only about 14/15 years-old. Edward [...]

Hypothesis: I have been researching this John Hineman for months, because I just KNOW he is related to our Hineman’s.
This is something I noticed today, searching census records: David and Letitia Hineman had a grandson living with them in 1870 and 1880. 1870 census lists him as John INMAN, age 1. 1880 census lists him [...]

I believe this Anna was married to the James Hineman, who was the son of Alexander Hineman and Amanda Ewing. This would have been his second wife, the first (I think) being Caroline Patience McLain/McClain, from who it appears he was divorced. I am still researching this, trying to verify I have the right people.

This Hineman could be related, being he was apparently working in East Liverpool, OH, where some of “my” Hineman’s also lived. A quick census search did not turn up any obvious candidates, so will need to continue to look.
