QUESTION: Nancy Mahala Hineman, daughter of Philip married “Mann” George Augustus VinCamp/VanCamp? Which surname is it? Did it change over time? One census clearly spells it VinCamp. Newspaper references use both spellings. One tree on Ancestry.com lists the surname just as “Camp.” Their son, Clyde‘s WWI draft registration lists William Clyde VanCamp, with Ina Cleo as wife. WWII draft registration says Clyde (states specifically: no middle) VinCamp, and Nancy VinCamp (his mom?) is listed as person who will always know him.

Oh, and where did the name/nickname, “Mann” come from?

Mt. Hope Cemetery index lists surname as VinCamp. ** Just checked find-a-grave and there are pictures of the gravestones which say, “VINCAMP.” In addition, the information listed on find-a-grave about Nancy (Hineman) Vincamp has her maiden name spelled as HINDMAN. LINK TO GRAVESTONES
